Fossil, Razer reveal a limited-edition Gen 6 watch at CES 2022

Fossil and Razer are revealing a limited-edition Gen 6 smartwatch at CES 2022 on Wednesday, which was modeled after Razer’s gaming PC.

Dubbed the Razer X Fossil Gen 6 Smartwatch, the watch is essentially identical to last year’s Fossil’s Gen 6 smartwatch. The smartwatch comes with Razer-themed green and black stripes and the software includes three themed watch faces. The “Chroma” watch face will allow you to set a color theme similar to the lighting on the Razer keyboard.

Two other Razer-themed watch faces are text, which tells the time, and an analog theme.

In addition to the band and watch face, the Fossil Gen 6 comes with Wear OS 2 from Google, with plans to upgrade to Wear OS 3 sometime in the middle of 2022. The Gen 6 line debuted last summer, with a particular focus on being able to charge its battery from zero to 80% in 30 minutes and its faster Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100 Plus chip. The watch also includes GPS, a heart rate sensor, a Sp02 blood oxygen sensor, and Bluetooth 5.0 LE connectivity.

The Gen 6 watch will eventually get support for Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant, which Fossil said will be coming in the near future. Alexa will be preloaded on the watch, and will be activated when Amazon adds that version of the Assistant to Google’s App Store.

The watch will go on sale on Monday with a 44mm black case, starting at $329. The limited edition will be just 1,337 units, because why not. It costs a little more than the standard Gen 6 starting price of $299 (£279, AU$499).

A Fossil representative told CNET that the Razer collaboration is partly a test to see how a member of the gaming audience will approach the smartwatch, whether as a new customer, an existing customer or someone who is interested in this smartwatch. The limited-edition element will be in .

The Razer-themed Gen 6 watch debuts at CES the same day as Razer’s Zephyr Pro face mask, Enky Pro Hypersense gaming chair and Project Sofia gaming desk prototype.

Fossil has also unveiled its Gen 6 collaboration with Skagen Wednesday, called the Falster Gen 6 smartwatch, in a 41mm case size. The metal bezel on the Falster is thinner than on the Razor, but in every way the watch is identical to the other Gen 6 models.

The Skagen smartwatches will be available in multiple colors including Case Silver, Rose Gold, Charcoal and Black. Strap options will be available in stainless-steel mesh, silicone and leather. The Skagen Gen 6 line will be available Wednesday and starts at $295.
